Final Project

Have students create a timeline of  Christopher Columbus’ first voyage from what they have learned and by researching. Students must use technology and creativity. Students can create their timeline on any computer program (ex: powerpoint, indesign, etc.) and present it to the class. Students must do some research in order to get exact dates and proper photos and graphics to illustrate their projects using technology. It is important that student use their knowledge of social studies, their art skills, and their knowledge of technology to create this project. The following rubric will be used to grade the timeline.

Rubric for final project:

Content/Facts	Facts were accurate for all events on timeline.	Facts were accurate for almost all events on timeline.	Facts were accurate for most (~75%) of the events reported on the timeline.	Facts were often inaccurate for events reported on timeline.
Graphics/Pictures	All graphics are effective and balanced with text use.	All graphics are effective but there appear to be few or too many.	Some graphics are effective and their use is balanced with text use.	Several graphic are not effective.
Dates	An accurate, complete date has been included for each event	An accurate and complete date has been include for almost every event.	An accurate date has been included for almost every event	Dates are inaccurate or missing for several events.
Objective	Clearly stated and appropriately focused.	Clearly stated but focus could have been sharper.	Thesis stated not appropriately focused.	No objective for research.
